The Short Story

Born and raised in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, Esther-Romana moved to Christchurch, New Zealand in 2004. It was here that she found the freedom to explore the world of art. Having focused on visual arts for ten years resulting in theLazyWench Studio, Esther-Romana's focus started to flow over into music. While living in Melbourne, this passion was encouraged by her surroundings and before long she was playing live at several venues across the city, just her Piano and her voice.
Back in New Zealand in 2017, Esther-Romana started collaborating with "drummerboy" Brendan O’Regan, developing her sound and on stage presence. They performing regularly together in the Otautahi scene as "Soulstess", delivering a PIANO-PERCUSSION set of classics and originals, fronted by a soulful, bluesy powerhouse vocal.
Now Esther-Romana is gigging solo again for intimate sets in Otautahi and wider Waitaha, as well as playing with "the lost soul collective", collaborations between musos generally gigging solo but through jams and one of sets make this duo/trio/quartet/you name it an original everytime. Esther-Romana is also going back to the studio to write and record her long-awaited EP, as well as setting up the live music community ourgigs.nz, a place to promote your gigs as a venue or artist and connect with audience and artist with ourgigs.nz EVENTcalendar.
